Recently during this past Spring semester of school I joined a fashion/model group on campus called, "Ward." We had our big spring fashion show and I was nervous as heck! I had never experienced the adreline rush of being behind the scenes of a fashion show until then and man did I love it. I'm one of the stylist in the group and here are a couple of looks I've done thus far. A few from the show and some from my first photoshoot.

A trend that has caught my eye recently is the Zara skort. Skorts as we should all know (well mostly girls) from childhood are a combo of shorts and a skirt, thus creating a "Skort". This skort has been sported a few of my fav fashion bloggers (Q2Han & SLOABN). The skort entails sharp triangled cuts in the front that add edge to the skort.
Today, I was so ecstatic to find a cheaper route to achieving the luxury apparel look without spending the price. This skort from Zara cost $50 in US currency. SLOABN created a great DIY on how to get this sought after skirt. So pull out your note pad or keep a mental note and enjoy this DIY :)

Lately, I've been going through a stripes loving phase of sorts. Today was sunny but it still rained *boo!* Anyway, I paired my striped tie-side top with these bleeding orange colored trousers.
The stone black and gold necklace gave me an elegant feel even though this is a casual look. You guys know I love color so I added this boho feel handbag.
What's your best casual look?

Bey and Jay are back! Their new single "On The Run (Part II)" off Jay Z's new album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" is a beautiful sinful bliss of their love. It may be Jay's song but Bey took over. The chorus is so melodic and sincere. Get the album here

Hey lovelies! This look was inspired by one of my fav blogers from Dani French of Stylisticaesthetics. She did a post about pairings with stripes so I took a shot at it. Here is my rendition of paring stripes with prints. Also, I couldn't forget about the usage of color from this iconic Michael Kors handbag. Check out her blog post on how to pair with stripes here.

Here's a lovely ootd for you guys! I thought back to a time where celeb couples were no longer society's ideal couples anymore due to breakups. Such as Riri & Chris, heck we once thought Will & Jada were on the verge of ending.
For this outfit a paired a abstract print maxi with this shell pink colored top. Using minimal accessories such as the green stoned pendant necklace with a gold bracelet. Don't forget the bag! The brown colored clutch soothes out the print in the outfit. Lastly, put on your black thong sandals and you're ready to G-O!
This abstract print leaves you with a feeling of confidence & freedom.

July is the middle child of summer! Ever heard the cliche' that the middle child always acts out for attention? Well we're most def doing that this summer! From outlandish graphic tees, transparent handbags, to bold statement printed clothing. We will make our mark in July. For one, Independence day has our back on fashion statements. We can wear, do, and say whateverrrrr because this is our time!
Although summer is suppose to be "sunny" it has been raining all freakin' week herein southern Alabama. Total bummer! :( On the bright side transparent shoes are there for the save! You'll have the rain saying "Can't touch this!" while doing the MC Hammer dance lol.
And what's the summer without those hippie sunglasses ehh? You can dress them up or dress them down with any outfit of choice cause it's THUG LIFE! :)

One of my favorite style icons is Solange Knowles. Her style has revolutionized over the years. One thing I can say about Solange is that she definitely doesn't follow in her big sister's footsteps. Solange has a unique and free spirit style that can make her memorable at any event. My love for SK's style emerged when her hit "Sandcastle Disco" hit the scene in 2008. Ever since then I was hooked on her melodic vocals and infamous fashion sense. I put together a look that reminds me of SK.
The singe/songwriter is making major headlines in the fashion world. Bey may be making headlines in the music industry, mainstream, but she better watch out for her little sis. Watch out Solange's coming through! Here are a few of her looks throughout the years.

" Blacks hung such as fruit on the trees. Swinging in the breeze." Nina Simone's soulful and jazzy voice sang these lyrics in her song "Strange Fruit". Who would've thought to describe the ones lynched as strange fruit? It paints a vivid picture in our minds as to what it looked like during those times. You could hear the sorrow in Simone's voice. She evoked feeling and anger. One could say, "How could people hate a race so bad to do those awful things?" May never know. So many things are happening today from black on black crime to racial violence. Even though we may not see racism explicitly, it still does exist. It lurks around that little corner your mom tells you not to go to because you're not allowed. It lives within the trees and plants it's seeds into ignorant minds.
"Strange Fruit" by Nina Simone
Kanye West used Simone's chorus in his song "Blood on the Leaves" from his Yeezus album. Although the lyrics do not captivate the message of Simone's song it does make an interesting chorus to this song.

"And I'm off to the races, cases of Bacardi chasers
Chasing me all over townCause he knows I'm wasted, facing
Time again at Riker's Island and I won't get out
Because I'm crazy, baby I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet, starlet singing in the garden
Kiss me on my open mouth
Ready for you"
-"Off t the Races" Lana Del Rey
Summer breeze and palm trees, dressed in denim dungarees. :) I envision summer as a breeze. I've been working so hard these past few weeks that I just need time to relax a little bit. Why not put together a chill yet fashionable ensemble for a weekend get-a-way.
